I listen to Hot 107.9 radio here in Atlanta almost every morning during my commute to work.  If you are a fellow fan of this radio station, then you are bound to catch the Rickey Smiley Morning Show and Dish Nation.  Headkrack is one of the many talented cast members on this very popular radio show!  He joins the ranks of his fellow star-studded cast mates such as Rickey Smiley, Da Brat, Gary With Da Tea, Ms. Juicy, Rock-T, and Special K just to name a few!  Headkrack is deeply rooted in Hip-Hop, and brings his knowledge of the music industry when he is on air.  I was shocked when he stated that he does a lot of work behind the scenes as well.  I assumed that he just shows up to work, skims over a few cue cards, and jumps on air. However, he’s very involved in his portion of the show and often finds his own interviews and research. He even produces and edits his own show segments.

A lot of people are not aware that Headkrack is not just a radio personality. He’s also a rapper who has won many underground Hip-Hop battles across the country.  The NY native has a raw feel to his music and his lyrics will cut you like a knife.  Headkrack has performed and shared the stage with some of the best in the music industry like: Run DMC, De La Soul, Big Pun,Wyclef Jean and Common.  Let’s not forget that this talented brother also acts as well and has landed roles in various movies!

Question: How would you describe your radio career?

Answer:Doing radio is a gift and a curse.  I love Hip-Hop and it is deeply rooted with in me, but I also love doing radio.  Anyone that works at a radio station will advise you that it’s a lot of work, and takes a lot of time out of your day.  The grind doesn’t stop just because you’re not on air.  I love what I do at the station and I am very blessed to have the position that I have. In addition to working at the radio station, I also have a podcast, and a few other business ventures that I am working on as well.

Question: Do you have any plans to return to doing music in the future if your schedule lightens up?

Answer: I love Hip-Hop so much and it’s a big part of who I am, so there is always a possibility that I may make a single or an album.  Not to mention, I never really stopped doing music! Again, it’s my passion and it drives me like a car.  Even though I am a busy man, my schedule has a little wiggle room to where as I could tour and travel so it’s not ever totally off the table to do music.

Question:What other personal interest do you have outside of the world of entertainment?

Answer: I also am interested in possibly doing a soft launch for a healthier way of living.  I came across Holistic Health, which is a belief that physical and mental aspects of life are closely and factor into the overall health of a person. I am not saying that I want to turn it into a hardcore business venture but I would like to promote it more.  You have to take care of yourself both mentally and physically! A lot of people are not aware of the importance of taking care of yourself, especially in this line of business.  You have to keep yourself mentally centered and physically healthy.  I am all for taking the route of utilizing the benefits of natural organic herbal healing and meditation.

Question: What direction would you like to see your career go with in the next 5 years?

Answer: The sky’s the limit!  I definitely want to broaden my brand as a whole and will continue to use my current platform and blessings to grow as an individual. I also see myself producing more, and in a perfect world possibly taking on more acting projects.

This guy has nothing but talent, goals and ambition! We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this standup guy.  I personally respect him as a positive minded African-American role model in the entertainment industry.
